Function — When streaming, a Group has one of two possible functions: Normal and Record. The best way to describe the difference is to simply describe what the Record function is: it keeps a streaming connection to each camera live and does nothing with the data: no decoding audio or video, no displaying video or playing audio. Why this is important, is that if you wanted to record, say, one hundred 4k cameras on a little Apple TV, that becomes possible with this Record function. If you configure a File Server for recording and stream a Group set to the Record function, you’ll have a highly scalable and efficient recording mechanism. For everyone else, just use the Normal function.
